040628-N-6213R-041 Pacific Ocean (Jun. 28, 2004) - Cdr. William Dooris, Commanding Officer of the "Stingers" of Strike Fighter Squadron One One Three (VFA-113) straps himself into the cockpit of an F/A-18C Hornet aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) prior to taking part in an aerial change of command.  Cdr. Dooris is being replaced by Cdr. John Dixon as commanding officer.  The Stennis Strike Group is making history by taking the lead in SUMMER PULSE 2004, the simultaneous deployment of six carrier strike groups testing the Navy's new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).  This is the first ever test of the FRP and for the Navy to deploy six Carrier Strike Groups in less than 30 days and have another 2 more ready to go within months.  Stennis and embarked Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are currently at sea participating in a scheduled deployment.  Photo by Mark J. Rebilas
